Map
This is the world map of Griffalia! Here you can learn more about the world and the areas within!
Main Map
The world of Griffalia is actually a notably sized pocket dimension. The creator of the dimension is said to still be there to this day, watching over the lands and ensuring all outsiders are respectful to the world. After all, they do not want to have to close the dimension off like they did once years ago due to bad actors, especially griffle hunters. Griffles are the most widespread species in Griffalia, though there is a large amount of other notable flora and fauna as well, on top of those who have decided to live in the dimension.

The Grand Glade
The Grand Glade is a very calm place surrounded by flowing fields filled with flowers. Many visitors of Griffalia often consider this beginner territory, as many who first arrive in the dimension find their first griffle companions here. The Grand Glade is also the location of entry for visitors not native to the dimension, as there is a dimensional gate that has been established there for those without access to dimension travel themselves. Due to the gate, many small towns have been constructed around the area, and allow that spot to essentially be one of the few traveler hubs in Griffalia.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Verdant Valley
Verdant Valley is another notably calm spot in Griffalia, for the most part at least. It is still best to keep one’s guard up here due to the possibility of dangers due to the dense forests here. The most notable feature of this area is the giant tree towards the area’s northern end, which grows fruit all year round. Many griffles from all over are frequently found flocking to this tree to feast on the fruits. A solid few of the non-griffle folks now living in the dimension have taken to living in Verdant Valley due to this giant tree.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Shimmering Skylands
The Shimmering Skylands are known for being the only floating islands of the dimension. Each island rests on floating clouds held up by magic. Large fields and small forests make up most of these islands surfaces. To get up and go between islands, one must travel on rainbow bridges. This area holds also large windmill, a small town, and a dock for airships. There is a notable travelers hub where the airship dock is.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Frosted Forest
The Frosted Forest is the second coldest area in Griffalia, just behind Glimmering Glaciers. There is pine trees scattered across this snowy landscape, along with a frozen pond, and several large mountains that pierce the skyline. Going into the caves in the mountains is not recommended unless you come prepared. This area does have a small town within it, located next to the pond.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Sinkwell Swamp
Sinkwell Swamp is a gloomy place, and often one of the scariest to go into at night. The land here is made up of mainly mud and swampland. Anything could be lurking that wishes to surprise you. This area is the one area that notably has no towns currently set up there. So if you go inside, it may be best to not go alone.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Watery Wetland
The Watery Wetland is peaceful like the Grand Glade, though is harder to traverse. This area is covered in tall and thick grasses, and also has many lakes, ponds, and muddy areas in it. There is also the large pond in the center connected to a large river that goes all the way to the ocean. A few small towns exist here, mainly surrounding the lakes there. The buildings in these towns are built above or floating on the water.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Daredevil Desert
Daredevil Desert is a vast and seemingly never-ending desert. Many travelers who have gone inside have complained of how going through this area feels like an eternity. For those searching for treasure though, there is the grand pyramid deep in the desert, though it’s best for those brave enough to take it on. Thankfully, there is a town nearby the pyramid that surrounds a small oasis if anyone needs to take a stop.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Fiery Folly
Fiery Folly is the most dangerous place in Griffalia. This area is full of mountains and hard to traverse land made almost entirely of rock. The only plant life that is here is small shrubs and the occasional rare flower. There is no towns or similar here. Despite the conditions, there is some hot springs found on the western end of the area that some folks occasionally come to experience. The volcano in this place is still active and spewing out lava to this day.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Blooming Beach
Blooming Beach is a rather active and peaceful area. While there is a few small towns, many tend to just come and go. A small resort has been built here as well. Unique treasures can be found in the sands or washed up on the shore. This is mainly a spot to come relax or have fun.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Glimmering Glaciers
Glimmering Glaciers is the coldest area in Griffalia. This area is specifically made out of just icebergs and glaciers. Anything that lives here lives off of other creatures, as no plant life is able to love out here due to the absence of any soil. There isn’t much of a reason to go out here unless you’re interested in the wildlife and griffles found here. Griffles found here are considerably hardy and some even powerful and dangerous.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Riveting Reef
Riveting Reef is a large and colorful coral reef found in the eastern part of Griffalia, right nearby the Shimmering Skylands. Getting out here on your own is difficult if you cannot fly or swim long distances. However, it is easy enough to find others willing to take you out there, be it alone, or with a group. This area is a frequent stop for any tourist ships to stop by, as this is an especially popular snorkel and diving destination. It’s still best to be on your toes though, as the waters here can still hold dangerous creatures.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Terrifying Trench
Terrifying Trench is arguably on a similar level of danger as Fiery Folly. This trench is several miles deep into the water, going to a point that no light reaches the bottom of it. Parts of the trench even have small cave systems that it is said some have gotten lost and perished in. In order to explore here, you need highly specialized equipment. Even so, some of those that went down there with such equipment were still put into danger by some of the residents down there. Not too much is known about this area to this day, especially as many are too afraid to explore there.

Most common elements in this zone are:
Official Classification List
This is the list of original, official griffles, be it one off designs, or designs with multiple variants! Here only the original variants are included. The classifications included here are also only the ones made by the species creator. Some designs may be missing due to being lost or due to other reasons such as being designed privately.
SPECIAL MODIFIER KEY:
ORI: Origin Classifications (the first few griffles of the official release)1OF: One off design (only one offical version of this design exists, and there is no plans to produce other variants to give away)1OR: One off run (only a small amount of these were made, and no more are planned to be made to be given out at least)R: Redrawn (the design was revamped and/or redrawn, likely due to being an older design or not holding up as well)

Blazerock
ORI, R
Fire
Blazerock griffles are notably hardy fire type griffles, found in Firey Folley exclusively. Due to their hardiness, they are capable of taking tough tumbles. They mostly tend to be calm, but when aggravated their flames will become stronger and they will often try to chase the one who caused their aggravation away. Their elemental powers are mainly used to maintain the flames on their body, or spit small sparks of flame from their mouths.

Sea & Sands
ORI, R
Water
Sea & Sands griffles are most often found at the Blooming Beach, but can be found rarely elsewhere in the Griffalia dimension. Many who have these griffles as companions find them to be quite playful and full of energy. They will often go on the search for things like shells to give as gifts. Most Sea & Sands griffles use their water abilities to make small splashes or water or weak waves by using water around them. The color variations of a Sea and Sands griffle will determine the color the water changes to when they use their magic, but only the amount of water being used instead of the entire body/source of water.

Little Bud
ORI, R
Plant
Little Bud griffles match their namesake, as they are often a bit smaller than the average griffle. Despite this, these small little fluffballs are full of joy! The colors of the petal-like patterns on their body and "ears" can change color depending on where they are. The same applies to their leaves. Some variants of this griffle may even have different leaf types. This variant is most commonly found in the Grand Glade, but can be found elsewhere.

Sunpuff
ORI
Sky
Sunpuff griffles are found most commonly in the Shimmering Skylands among other sky element griffles. They are well known for their vivid colors and soft feathers. Sunpuff griffles are very affectionate companions, being a decently popular sky element griffle, especially for those new to having a griffle companion. They use their elemental abilities to be able to to float off the ground slightly for short periods, done by using the powers of the sun. When the sun isn’t out they cannot float, and must instead rely on their wings for flight.

Spookandle
Phantom and Fire Hybrid
Spookandle griffles tend to be found most commonly in any area that has dark spots they can hide in. This species of griffle tends to enjoy playing around with others, often showing up in the middle of the night to draw others in with their shiny lights. Occasionally, some of these griffles have the ability to use their candle smoke on others. The smoke's effect tends to be calming, can make others sleepy, or other basic and relatively harmless effects. The fire from their candles and wings is completely harmless.

Starbright
Light
Starbright griffles are most commonly seen when the sun has set and the skies darken, allowing them to shine their brightest. They use their bug-like wings to flutter around the dark. Like fireflies, they can use their tail star to communicate with others of their kind. Their tails can also act like a flash bang in very dire situations.

Candy Wrapper
R
Food
Candy Wrapper griffles often have personalities based on the type of candy their wings and tail contain. Their wings and tail can be harmlessly unwrapped so others can enjoy the candy within. The candy in these body parts is often flavored based on what they eat. This candy builds back up when the griffle eats and can also function as a sort of emergency food source.

Topiary
Plant
Topiary griffles take great pride in keeping their leafy manes and flowers in tip top shape. Many have reported seeing this type of griffle nearby water element griffles, trading food in order to frequently keep their flowers watered and healthy. Due to their flowers and leafy manes being sensitive, it is quite easy to tell if they are sick or injured, as their flowers will often wilt or fall off. They only tend to let others pick their flowers with permission, all thieves who try will be pecked and swiped at.

Spikehood
Poison
Spikehood griffles are easily identifiable by their prickly hoods around their necks and their spiked backs and tails. Their hoods can be puffed out and used for intimidation, mainly to scare off threats. The stingers on their tails make anyone who is pricked by them woozy. Thankfully, they only seem to sting those who actively mess with them or threaten them.

Frillneck
Water
Frillneck griffles tend to be found almost exclusively in large bodies of water, mainly salty water. They are able to breath in water and in air. Frillnecks can flatten and puff out nearly all the frills on their body, especially the one around their neck. These frills allow them to steer their bodies as they swim or can be used to show emotion.

Cottonlotl
Plant and Water Hybrid
Cottonlotl griffles are considered pretty carefree and calm by most. They will often be found in or close to clean lakes and freshwater living their lives and making friends with others around them. If any part of them is injured or even removed, it can grow back, but grows as fluffy cotton before turning into the original part’s material. When they get out of water the fluff on their necks and tails dries almost immediately somehow.

Skystream
Sky
Skystream griffles are greatly known for using wind streams in the sky to get around. Their wings aren’t the greatest for flying, so they rely on winds to get places. They will most commonly be spotted at higher altitudes and spots with stronger winds. The tail and head feathers are often signs of status for their kind, longer feathers being more desirable, but also at the cost of having more trouble with flight.

Lightleak
Light
Lightleak griffles are known for often leaving trails of glowing goo as they travel around. After about half an hour though, this goo fades and dissolves into nothing, so chances are if you see the trail of goo, that griffle is nearby! They are born with their glass dome tails intact, but unless they break them naturally, these domes burst themselves.

Smoothsmoke
Poison
Smoothsmoke griffles are known for being generally relaxed and calm in nature, even slow moving at times. They prefer taking things at their own pace without caring too much if others around them may be doing it quicker. It is not recommended to inhale too much of their smoke though, as some have claimed it can make someone fall asleep for quite a bit. Lower doses of this smoke can make an individual feel more calm and relaxed. Different individual Smoothsmoke griffles may have different smoke scents.

Sugar Rush Jester
Dark
Sugar Rush Jester griffles are quite the mischievous bunch, and quite full of energy too. They don’t exactly come from one place either, and are decently widespread. Their diet tends to be made up of fruits and anything very high in sugar. A low energy Sugar Rush Jester griffle is often not a healthy one. These griffles do not sleep often at all, not frequently needing to.

Starzoomer
Light
Starzoomer griffles have been around for a long time, apparently dating back to the earliest years of Griffalia. Originally, this species of griffle had same sized limbs. However, as time went on, their back legs became smaller and allowed them to become even more aerodynamic. When they zip around, it seems like they are like a shooting star. It has been reported that there have been variations in the number of points for their wing and tail stars, though most tend to have the same amount as each other.

Honeypot
Insect
Honeypot griffles are often found in large groups underground. Each individual is capable of holding several gallons of a sweet, honey-like liquid. However, there tends to be dedicated individuals to be the food storage, signified by their tails almost always being swollen and full of more liquid than average. These tails are very squishy and stretchy, and also very difficult to pop. If their tail does pop though, the tails wither away and fall of, leaving a spot that is flat and healed over to prevent leaks from what was previously connected to it.

Pufferfish
Water
Pufferfish griffles are covered in many pointy little spines on nearly all parts of their bodies. This makes them some not so great cuddle buddies. If anything, this type of griffle is best suited for keeping things guarded. Do not eat any part of them, including their feathers, as each of these things are poisonous and can really make whoever consumes them sick. If you are to pet them, it is best to do so on their backs, as it is covered in fluff and has no spines.

Lit Fuse
Fire
Lit Fuse griffles are rather unpredictable. One moment they could be sleeping. Another moment they are zooming about. Their tails are almost always on fire, and if it happens to go out, they can reignite it with their neck flames. This griffle can light the fuse on their heads so they can cause a small explosion around them. This explosion doesn’t hurt them.

Exotic Zapper
Electric and Water Hybrid
Exotic Zapper griffles were made through years of selective breeding. They are very useful for providing electricity to certain machinery and can even function as living batteries by storing electricity in their bodies. Their whiskers are probably their most desirable trait, longer whiskers or ones with more elaborate shapes are highly sought after by collectors, breeders, and more. Touching them will make your hair frizzy.

Ectoessence
Phantom
Ectoessence griffles‘s manes and tail parts always flow in considerably odd ways. If one would stick their hand in this weird essence, it would go right through and feel generally odd. If they are in good health and have a solid amount of energy, they can phase through thin surfaces. This classification of griffle tends to be relatively easygoing.

Crystal Crosshair
Earth
Crystal Crosshair griffles are very skilled at hitting their shots. Using the crosshair on their heads, they can fire a laser using the crystals surrounding it. The crosshair on their tails is often held in front of their faces to help aim. If some of the crystals on their floating head crosshair are broken or missing, their accuracy can be hindered.

Blanketed Sea Slug
Water
These griffles like to take things at their own pace. It is common for them to not have their eyes easily visible. Despite this, Blanketed Sea Slug griffles can see and move around just fine. Keeping them soaked with water frequently is important, as otherwise they start to dry out, and can become sick or injured easier. While they are brightly colored, they are not poisonous, instead they just do not taste good.

Iceguard
Ice
Iceguard griffles are born with their big orbs of solid ice. At first, the orb starts off small. But with time taken maintaining their ice orbs, they grow in size until the griffle can lay on top of them. These orbs are said to contain special liquid that has healing and refreshing abilities. Hunting them was originally very common due to this. To counter attackers, these griffles can hurl the orb at their enemies or spit smaller balls of ice at others. The ice orbs are extremely sturdy for this purpose, and some griffles of this type even freeze objects inside the ice.

Strong Gust
Wind
Strong Gust griffles oftentimes take great pride in creating strong (albeit short lived) gusts of wind to hit things or people. Oftentimes, they will swoop next to passerby in a aggressive matter to hit them with wind. Otherwise, they can be a bit cranky. Those with long tail streamers are seen as more powerful amongst their kind. If those streamers are damaged or torn off, the griffle will oftentimes hide away in shame until they grow back to an average size in about 3 months.

Sandstream
Earth
Sandstream griffles are mostly found in extreme conditions, much preferring deserts and similar wastelands. These griffles thrive in these types of environments, as their bodies are adjusted to deal with such conditions. They do not need water as frequently as others, and can go for over 2 weeks without it at a time. Sandstreams most commonly eat insects they dig out of the sands. Using their abilities, they can use sand to propel themselves forwards.

Leafscale
Plant
Leafscale griffles can often be found in areas with rich soil that allows for plants to prosper. Individuals will often have small gardens that they guard and tend to like a dragon guarding their hoard. They view someone picking their garden's flowers without permission as very disrespectful.

Robogriffle
1OR
Metal and Electric Hybrid
Robogriffles were results of a few science experiments on creating cyborg griffles. While the experiment was a success, still only a few individuals were created. Using the plug on their tails, they can channel electricity to fire at things. The plug can also be used to charge the griffle with electricity.

Driftwish
1OF
Wind and Plant Hybrid
Driftwish griffles are often found letting the wind take them around, not often really minding where they end up. On their own, they can float a little bit off the ground, mainly due to their magic. Even so, they are a very light type of griffle. The fluff around their necks occasionally will get blown off, just like dandelion seeds. The fluff is often used by others for nesting material. This fluff will grow back after a little bit. It is said if they trust someone and let them blow off some of the fluff themselves, it can grant small wishes.

Thermometer
Fire and Ice Hybrid
1OF
Thermometer griffles are one of the various hybrids around Griffalia. Depending on where they live they tend to display certain coloration according to their thermometer colors, such as displaying more of their warm coloration in warmer areas. Like the temperature changing with the seasons though, how this species acts can also differ with time, but it hasn't been recorded in all studied individuals. They are actually quite good to have around for medical reasons too, as they can display and communicate an individual's temperature by using their magic on them.

Ice Pearl
1OF
Ice
Ice Pearl griffles tend to most commonly be found in the Frosted Forest due to the preference of colder weather. During the colder seasons, they will often travel outside that zone to socialize with other griffles. They tend to take great pride in maintaining a well-kept appearance, often being seen preening themselves and their cloaks. These griffles are born with their cloaks, this causing there to often be variations in pattern or shape of these cloaks. Using their abilities, they will freeze small patches of water, mainly to walk over it.

Flarerunner
1OF
Fire
Flarerunner griffles tend to only be found in Fiery Folly, tending to not stray outside that island. They will often be found sprinting around at high speeds, often leaving behind burnt or still burning trails in their wake. This type of griffle will often challenge others of their kind to race, be it for entertainment or for asserting authority. When tired from running, their flames tend to be smaller, and they tend to refuel it by resting or consuming food. Due to this they may be considered oddly ravenous.

Leafbrella
1OF
Plant
Leafbrella griffles are rather calm, but oftentimes gloomy little fellas. They tend to be slow moving, and will often be found enjoying the rain. Due to their enjoyment of rain, they are most commonly found in Sinkwell Swamp, though in the less muddy areas. Using their leaves attached to their backs, they can cover their heads or others to protect them from rainfall.

Spooktwig
1OF
Phantom
Spooktwig griffles can often be found in thick forests, especially deep in Sinkwell Swamp and the Verdant Valley. They take great enjoyment in blending in with plant life in order to spook any passerby. Their color variations tend to often match the place they live in. Even so, their leaves may change colors throughout the year, so there’s even variations of leaf color in individuals.

Glimmerfly
1OF
Insect
Glimmerfly Griffles have rather shiny colors on their wings and many other parts of their bodies that many find them quite appealing for. These griffles take great care of keeping these colors bright by cleaning themselves frequently, mainly with sprinkles of water. They greatly enjoy light rain due to this, but also because the water helps their colors shine further.

Phantom Element Griffles

This species of griffle tends to enjoy playing around with others, often showing up in the middle of the night to draw others in with their shiny lights. Occasionally, some of these griffles have the ability to use their candle smoke on others. The smoke's effect tends to be calming, can make others sleepy, or other basic and relatively harmless effects. The fire from their candles and wings is completely harmless.

Ectoessence

Spooktwig
1OF
Plant Element Griffles

Little Bud
ORI, R

Topiary

Cottonlotl
Plant and Water Hybrid
Cottonlotl griffles are considered pretty carefree and calm by most. They will often be found in or close to clean lakes and freshwater living their lives and making friends with others around them. Leafscale griffles can often be found in areas with rich soil that allows for plants to prosper. Individuals will often have small gardens that they guard and tend to like a dragon guarding their hoard. They view someone picking their garden's flowers without permission as very disrespectful.

Driftwish
1OF
Wind and Plant Hybrid
Driftwish griffles are often found letting the wind take them around, not often really minding where they end up. On their own, they can float a little bit off the ground, mainly due to their magic. Even so, they are a very light type of griffle. The fluff around their necks occasionally will get blown off, just like dandelion seeds. The fluff is often used by others for nesting material. This fluff will grow back after a little bit. It is said if they trust someone and let them blow off some of the fluff themselves, it can grant small wishes.

Leafbrella
1OF
Plant

Using their leaves attached to their backs, they can cover their heads or others to protect them from rainfall.
Sky Element Griffles

Sunpuff
ORI

Skystream
Poison Element Griffles

Spikehood

Smoothsmoke
Metal Element Griffles

Robogriffle
1OR
Metal and Electric Hybrid
Robogriffles were results of a few science experiments on creating cyborg griffles. While the experiment was a success, still only a few individuals were created. Using the plug on their tails, they can channel electricity to fire at things. The plug can also be used to charge the griffle with electricity.
Insect Element Griffles

Honeypot
Insect
Honeypot griffles are often found in large groups underground. Each individual is capable of holding several gallons of a sweet, honey-like liquid. However, there tends to be dedicated individuals to be the food storage, signified by their tails almost always being swollen and full of more liquid than average.
ORI Griffles

Blazerock
ORI, R
Fire
Blazerock griffles are notably hardy fire type griffles, found in Fiery Folly exclusively.

Flarerunner
